The Aubrey and Maturin series is magnificent. I always envy people who are reading them for the first time and get that very special joy of discovering each book.

I am reading them in order for the first time and have just started book three, so count myself very lucky to have so many waiting to be read. Such wit, characterisation and style! I am in awe.

Yes, I'd heard that too. Can't believe it took me this long to get to them. If I'd known I was gong to love them so much, I would've bought the hardback boxed set. Ah well. :-)
