puns & teen poetry
Dec. 18th, 2008 12:46 pmApropos of nothing, here's an extract from "La Suite Acide", which was part of my submission for Music Theory & Composition in my final year at school.
The title ("The Sour Suite") is a fair reflection of the lyrics I wrote for this vocal piece, one of very few I ever attempted. The three movements cover birth, life, and death. This is the third.
"Death draws nigh; my will to live ebbs;
and so I now join my forebears gone before.
Fly my soul on silver dove's wings/dove's silver wings.
My life is spent for this moment.
I feel pain no more."
Apologies for the bad recording. On top of bad poetry and bad puns, you'd think I'd spare you the abuse. (Multiple media changes makes auditory time travel from 1984 a very unhappy affair.) At least no recordings exist of some of my (even) more emo efforts, like "Death, Sweet Death" and "This is Life: 'Rejoice'?!" That's something to be mightily thankful for.

One guy, Conrad, who i thnk majored in Composition (I majored in Education), would write some pretty wacky and out there stuff. I think he did really well, definitely points for originality. I wonder what ever happened to him...
