A quick reminder that Concept Sc-Fi's first annual short story competition, which I'll be judging, is now open for entries. The themes are space opera and music. Make me proud!

Date: 2009-04-08 08:02 am (UTC)Yes, I'm happy to consider poetry. But please bear in mind that there's a single prize fund of £100 for the winner, so the poems will be judged in the same pot as the stories.
Cheers,
Gary.

Date: 2009-04-08 08:50 am (UTC)The minimum word limit for short-fiction is 1,000. While I wouldn't be looking for poetry entries of the same minimum length, you could imagine a scenario where a poem of ten lines would have trouble competing with a short story.
So ideally I'd be looking for multi-verse poems that at the very least make it onto a second page. That doesn't mean that shorter poems can't win, but they'd have to be exceptional.
I hope that helps to clarify the situation. Do email submissions@conceptscifi.com if you have any further questions.
Cheers,
Gary.
