damp, and loving it

I'm just back from Sydney and way behind on everything (including Earth Ascendant, the sequel to Saturn Returns). It'll take me a while to catch up on email and the like, so please don't take it personally if I haven't responded--and feel free to nag if my tardiness becomes unacceptable. I won't mind. :-)
Highlights from the last week:
- hanging out with lots of young writers, their teachers and a great bunch of authors at workshops and talks organised by the festival's schools program;
- meeting Nick Drake, poet, author (of Nefertiti: The Book of the Dead, a historical crime thriller I'm currently enjoying), and scriptwriter of the film adaptation of Romulus, my Father;
- seeing the moons of Jupiter and Saturn after a session at the most excellent Sydney Observatory;

- and taking a couple of days off to enjoy a brief honeymoon with Amanda before all the fun started.
Apologies to everyone I didn't get to catch up with. Thanks to those who came to talks, took time out to say hi, or have been patient while I catch up. Now the new book is underway, I am liable to be something of a recluse.
But hey, it's raining here and everything is good. Hurrah!
(See here for an interview with Gary Kemble covering what I've been up to lately, including space opera, Doctor Who, and many other topics.)

Date: 2007-06-03 05:36 am (UTC)I am now home in Sydney, in the wonderful cold(ish) weather. There was indeed rain (Sean), and it was humid hot ugliness :/ But a nice place, and a good gig!

Date: 2007-06-03 12:27 am (UTC)It's weird. I have no recollection at all of The Magnetic Fields being on "Random"; will have to dig it out of the box when I set up the new bookshelves today or tomorrow (finally--hurrah!).

Date: 2007-06-03 01:14 am (UTC)May take time to congratulate you on your marriage Mr Ladd, I know it’s a bit late, but I didn’t know until now, bravo and congratulations.
Was just looking at your photo snaps and particularly like the one of Sarah enthralled with Cathy’s banter.
Looks like you had a fun time of it all.
