adelaidesean: (destroy all monster)

Quote of the day, from Paul Keating, via [livejournal.com profile] angriest:

"Nations get a chance to change course every now and then. When things become errant, a wise country adjusts its direction. It understands that it is being granted an appointment with history. On this coming Saturday, this country should take that opportunity by driving a stake through the dark heart of Howard's reactionary government."

Bravo!

If Buffy was running, I'd definitely vote for her.

God, I hope the old sod's right.

Interestingly, this was rated as the second most viewed item on the SMH site today. So its seems to be hitting a nerve.

He may have been an arrogant SOB, but I miss Paul Keating. He at least had some vision for this country.

Vision, integrity (as much as any politician, anyway), style *and* wit. He's exactly what we needed. I cursed my fellow Australians for voting him out and Howard in. Sigh.

I'm glad the article's being read so widely. It's like a breath of fresh air, even it does get a bit partisan in places.

Partisan is good. Society thrives on partisan politics IMO.

Buffy might not be running, but apparently Stiffler's Mom is :p (shan't be voting for her, however.)

Agreed. But I think his article would have been just as strong without it, and there would have been no room for the incumbent Libs to complain.

Except they always would, regardless. Mongrels. I can't tell you how desperate I am to be rid of them. In my dreams, they lose the Senate as well and the nation passes a law to tip them all into the ocean.

That's bizarre. (Not not voting for her, I mean. The rest.) I had no idea.

I won't vote for Buffy, I'dvote for Willow. She was the smart one.

Smart, absolutely, but not so good with the staking, which is what we need right now. Perhaps Willow could be Keating to Buffy's Hawke--and everything would work out right in the end. :-)

I'm just worried that we are going to get more of the same under Rudd.

And talking of stupid people who panic: my fellow staff member was telling me this morning that a lot of small business people she knows (her husband is self-employed) are laying off people NOW, because IF Labor gets in, will be huge industrial problems and they will lose everything. I said that was a pretty dumb way to run a business: sacking people because you feared a political change which might turn not to be as bad as you feared.

fear is much more common in 'decision-making' than rational thought.

but then we've had ten years of ideas like 'workchoices' which has produced more choices - and less options. and 'mutual obligation' which pushed even more obligations onto the recipients; the mutual bit is there to help sell it to the 'we hate dole bludgers' set.

self-fulfilling prophesies are the easiest to sell.

So these people are either

1) Stupid because they hired someone they didn't need
2) Stupid because they are firing someone they need and have poor comprehension and reading skills to start with?

Sounds like a great candidates to be part of the large percentage of small businesses that fail, being that stupid and all.

Dark Willow, parliament house is that way.

In fact, here's the location of all of them in every country.

Nice bounty per skin. ;-)

Well, not to brag or anything, but your dark-hearted Prime Minister is probably still lower on Buffy's list than our hellspawned President.

God, I see you what you mean now. That's hilarious. And considering I've received about five letters from our Trish this week, I refuse to feel sorry for her.

if you get a chance, have a look through recent copies of the advertiser. someone replaced 'trish marsh' with 'stifler's mum' on one of her street posters - and the advertiser printed a photo of it.

i vote it for genius political satire of the campaign :D

True. Definitely stake-worthy. But at least here the mastermind is taking credit for his evil deeds, whereas it's an open question (or seems so from here, anyway) just how much credit Bush deserves...

Have a little Faith...

Id vote for Faith. Coz she had attitude and got the job done.

That... and the fact that she's damn hot.
