Quote of the day, from Paul Keating, via [livejournal.com profile] angriest:

"Nations get a chance to change course every now and then. When things become errant, a wise country adjusts its direction. It understands that it is being granted an appointment with history. On this coming Saturday, this country should take that opportunity by driving a stake through the dark heart of Howard's reactionary government."

Bravo!

If Buffy was running, I'd definitely vote for her.

Smart, absolutely, but not so good with the staking, which is what we need right now. Perhaps Willow could be Keating to Buffy's Hawke--and everything would work out right in the end. :-)

I'm just worried that we are going to get more of the same under Rudd.

And talking of stupid people who panic: my fellow staff member was telling me this morning that a lot of small business people she knows (her husband is self-employed) are laying off people NOW, because IF Labor gets in, will be huge industrial problems and they will lose everything. I said that was a pretty dumb way to run a business: sacking people because you feared a political change which might turn not to be as bad as you feared.

indeed

fear is much more common in 'decision-making' than rational thought.

but then we've had ten years of ideas like 'workchoices' which has produced more choices - and less options. and 'mutual obligation' which pushed even more obligations onto the recipients; the mutual bit is there to help sell it to the 'we hate dole bludgers' set.

self-fulfilling prophesies are the easiest to sell.

So these people are either

1) Stupid because they hired someone they didn't need
2) Stupid because they are firing someone they need and have poor comprehension and reading skills to start with?

Sounds like a great candidates to be part of the large percentage of small businesses that fail, being that stupid and all.

Dark Willow, parliament house is that way.

In fact, here's the location of all of them in every country.

Nice bounty per skin. ;-)

I now have an image of Howard as the Master, which is rather horridly appropriate...
