I was listening to Visage's "Fade to Grey" today and it occurred to me (long after it should have) to look up a translation of the spoken word sections, thinking they might be something from an obscure French existentialist, quoted long after his sad and empty death in perhaps one of the coolest, most futuristic songs ever written.

Alas, it's just the English lyrics translated into French. What a waste! Still, I like the oddly dimensioned bag with its "fixed and cold eyes." I'd be hiding too, I reckon.

Here's the version spewed forth by Dictionary.com's free translator service:

There is a scene in an episode of Ashes to Ashes where they go to the Blitz Club, and Visage are playing Fade to Grey live!

Ditto. One of the best songs ever written. I've never heard the remixes, and frankly can't understand why they'd bother. It has never stopped sounding contemporary, ever since it was released.

I've heard about that scene in Ashes but haven't seen it yet. Can't wait!

I agree. That song is great and still rocks today.

Sometimes it's nice to hear an "updated" version of a song though.
John Foxx has a new version (2006) of his song "Your Kisses Burn" that I love.

And of course, Silke Bischoff brought out an update/remix of their fabulous "On The Other Side" in 1993.
