out and about, kinda
Jul. 12th, 2008 11:43 amNot my first academic conference, but definitely my first (a) while undergoing any kind of academic study and (b) under a pseudonym:

My session is just before lunch on the first day in the Napier Building, Rooms 208-209.
Also: Conflux will be holding a virtual mini-con on the weekend of August 2 and 3, starting at 12pm on the Saturday and finishing 5pm on the Sunday. Called "Prepare to Dream" this mini-con will be held in the forum area of the website and will be free for anyone with an internet connection. I'll be there (wearing my own hat, this time) along with Jack Dann, Cat Sparks, Kaaron Warren, Karen Miller, Bruce Gillespie and Gillian Polack, and others.
Both are free and open to anyone. Come along and join in!

Date: 2008-07-12 03:38 am (UTC)I'm pseudonyming (yes, a great neologism!) because my novel will written that way too, and my exegesis will probably look at the process alongside a couple of other topics (mainly the nature of the crime/SF hybrid and how notions of crime, identity, investigation and punishment play out in that little corner of the genre). God, I hope that makes sense...
