"Mr T vs the Cybermen" is the funniest and strangest thing I've seen for days, and much less disturbing than the Dalek/Cyberman slash I came across a couple of weeks ago.

None of this, though, compares to the news that Felicity Kendall will be guest-starring in an episode of Doctor Who involving Agatha Christie. I am swooning as I type. (Did I ever mention that I grew up on Doctor Who, Agatha Christie and The Good Life novels?) That's the best slash I could ever imagine.

How awesome is this news! And also, how awesome is that icon! Is it from *that* movie? You know the one I mean...

Ha ha! Alas no. It's a promo shot from the Kylie/Dr Who Christmas slash (which should have been a whole lot hotter than it was).

I've always wanted Tim Powers to write a secret history of Agatha Christie. Or, failing that, to write it myself...

Tim Powers could write the blurb on the back of a cereal packet and I'd read it with relish! Maybe you oughta give it a go?

He could write a User Agreement and I'd read it.

I'll add my Christie book to the ones I'd like to write, one day. Did you know that she signed her name "Teresa Neele" when she disappeared for 11 days in 1926? Sounds like bloody good detective name to me...

Gah! Fuge state! No mystery there, I spend half my time in one

Does it count as a fugue if you're *always* in it? :-)

There are novels of The Good Life?! I must seek them out... for my dad... yes.

I can't hear Felicity Kendall's name now without thinking of that Red Dwarf line, "We came across a moon shaped exactly like Felicity Kendall's bottom. Flew around that one a couple of times."

With you on the Kylie/Dr Who. What a waste.

I remember loving the Good Life novels *a lot* as a kid. Sadly, now I go to look for them, I can't find them anywhere.

I did, however, unearth two Catweazle novelisations, a pair of Blakes 7s, and even one Are You Being Served? My teenage tastes terrify me today! (That's the official story.)

Hey there.

This season of Doctor Who is going to be guest star city. Blackadder's Tim McInnery, Neighbours and Ugly Betty's Alan Dale, ER's Alex Kingston, James Bond's Colin Salmon and many, many more.

After seeing the new cinema trailer I can't wait until March :)

Howdy,

Which Blake's 7 novels do you have? The two novelisations or Tony Atwood's impossible to find "Aftermath"?

Oh - and have you heard the new audio revamp of the original series? They're actually very good. Even with a completely new cast.

Ben Aaronvitch, Marc Platt and James Swallow are the writers.

Cheers,
Damon

I have read a Catweazle, have a couple of Blake's 7, but had no bloody idea the good life and Are you being served had books. Didn't need to know, either! :)

I had a copy of "Aftermath" in my hand once, and found it a very tough (ie bad) read. Didn't get very far. Will definitely look up the audio revamp. I hadn't heard of them. Thanks for letting me know, Damon. What a great idea!

The novelisation of the second season of Catweazle is, in some ways, superior to the show itself. Dare I sound like a fanboy... :-)

Out of curiosity last night I opened the Are You Being Served? book for the first time in thirty years (honest) and was confronted by "Chapter One: A Boob Or Two", "Chapter Two: Bottoms Up" and so on. They've clearly gone to some effort to capture the spirit of the show.

Have you read any Dorothy L Sayers mysteries?

She only wrote about ten mysteries (featuring Lord Peter Wimsey), but they are much more complex, deeper, mature works than Christie's. Try The Nine Tailors or Murder must advertise. Her murders are very clever, and yet grounded in the real world.

I only found out recently that Catweazle had two series, and that they told a story. Possibly because the ABC repeated it so many times, and not always in plot order, I never realised. Even though I did read the novelisations as a kid. I thought they stand alone stories, not based on the series at all.

Now I'm going off to order the DVD.

Catweazle rocks! I bought the first season a while back and was pleasantly surprised by how engaging it still was. The boys loved it too. Some TV is timeless.

Just ordered the DVD. I can hold out no lomger.

Catweazle, like AA Milne, is the foundation of a lot of my families in jokes. Particulary when Dad stuffed up something then it was a cry of "Nothing works!"

I'm relucant to watch Blake's & again. I don't think I will be able to ignore some of the shonkiness(?) of the show.having said that, I still want to be Servalan, should the position become vacant.

Ah geez. I blame induction training for my bad proof before post read.

Not sure where I've been inducted to but I now firmly believe people should only be allowed Powerpoint with a special permit!

That should have been 'at least'. D'oh!

:-)

When scripts are good, it's possible to ignore all sorts of shonkiness. I rewatch old Doctor Who and the best of B7 without much concern.

The flipside is that I can't rewatch Space: 1999. How did I ever like that show? It makes me sad to think that it was so awful

I read some of her books when I was younger, but not for ages. Thanks for the reminder. She was brilliant.

My favourite crime writer is Peter Lovesy. Whole different thing, but very cleverly written, particularly early novels like _The False Inspector Dew_. Ever heard of him?

Does the Sun come up each day?

Yes, WE *lol* have been watching it. I want James Marsters to get back in - he brings up the level of acting. Good ensemble actor.

I think the writers got a kick up where the sun don't shine over their break. I'm sure Damon has a much more mature and perhaps longer explanation as to why the writing is starting to make good (though after last week's I'm not going to hold to that concept).
